Aberwrac’h to Brest, France

We stayed in Aberwrac’h Marina for a couple of nights, it’s down a coastal river so fairly sheltered. It’s a popular stopover for boats heading south and it was nice to meet fellow sailors and share plans. Many of whom we have stayed in touch with and check in with as we travel further south.

We left with a small convoy of boats heading for Brest. Quite unexpectedly, a French kayaker joined us, appearing out of nowhere far out at sea. With light winds and a favourable current, it was an easy downwind motor sail for most of the way.

Our first stop in Brest was an anchorage at Anse de l’Auberlac’h. This was our first time anchoring with Starfish, and with the warm weather, we enjoyed jumping in and paddleboarding. Waking up surrounded by water felt truly special. We even tried some bread baking (it was edible, but there's room for improvement!), though the pizza bases and banana bread were definitely more successful! 🍕

After a few nights at anchor, we moved to Moulin Blanc Marina. It was good to pick up some post, do a full provision run, and stock up on food and fuel. We also visited the Aquarium before heading out of Brest and further south into the Bay of Bisque.
