Life, Like the Ocean
My life’s been a bit like the ocean—full of twists, unexpected currents, and more than a few wild waves. The biggest one hit when I was 21. An accident in India left me with a shattered ankle and a tough choice: try to save a leg that might never work again, or take control and amputate.
The Turning Point
I went with the second option. It wasn’t giving up—it was choosing freedom. I wanted my life back, and this was how I’d get it.
Finding My Feet (Literally)
Rehab was brutal, but I was stubborn. I looked into Paralympic sports for a while, but in the end, I decided to focus on building a full, happy life. That experience taught me resilience—and that I could take a hit and still keep going.
New Chapters
Melita and I threw ourselves into adventure—living on a canal boat in London, eventually heading back to Guernsey, raising two kids, and juggling life threw at us. Money got tight at times, but we figured it out together. We always do.
Chasing the Dream
Losing my dad before he could enjoy retirement made me think: what are we waiting for? We wanted more time as a family, more life, more freedom. So we made a big decision—sell up, buy a boat, and sail around the world.
Getting Ready to Go
The last three years have been intense—learning to sail, buying the boat, doing it up, figuring it all out. And now? We’re not “nearly ready.” Now we’re bloody doing it.
The Big Adventure
This isn’t about running away from anything—it’s about running towards something. Freedom. Family. Adventure. We want our kids to grow up knowing that dreams are worth chasing—even the scary, mad ones. Especially those.
We’re not just setting sail. We’re choosing to live fully, together, wherever the wind takes us.
